Learning Doesn’t Just Happen in the Classroom

It’s true, learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom! We believe it is important for our students to use the skills they are learning, and not just in class. The Learning Power of Community is key! While some of our classes, English Through the Arts or American Culture and Conversation for example, really lean into the world outside of textbooks, there are always lots of activities to help practice.

Group Outings

There are so many different things to do and see in Colorado! There are outings to restaurants, sporting events, ski slopes, lakes…so many things! We have volunteers who coordinate outings and offer a Conversation Table. Our teachers also take students into the community to help support and enhance what they are teaching in the classroom. Students also enjoy just getting out and doing things together.

In School Celebrations

New America College’s (NAC) mission is: Cultivating and celebrating inclusion, community, and success through a focused English language experience. Our in-school celebrations reflect our mission. Events such as Friendship Day and the International Food Festival are annual and much loved events! Pizza and ice cream parties, baby showers, and pumpkin carving are a few other examples of how learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom.

If you are looking for an engaging, focused and welcoming space in which to learn or improve your English, please reach out! We would love to have you join our community.
