3/13 COVID-19 Message

In our continuing efforts to keep our students, staff and community safe and healthy, we have made the decision to cancel face-to-face classes, starting Monday, March 16th. It is never easy to make a call like this, but we did so on the advice of medical experts to ensure that we are supporting the health and well-being of all of our students, staff and families.

However, we will be transitioning to interactive distance learning (online) starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020. This is a temporary change in policy by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). DHS is currently allowing students on a non-immigrant visa (F-1 and J-1) to be fully enrolled in classes with no face-to-face instruction if the school you are attending has made that decision.

Please note that it is your responsibility to maintain your F-I status during this time. At this point, maintaining your F-1 status requires you to participate fully in the interactive distance learning lessons that NAC has implemented. You must attend and pass the class in the same way you would if classes were in person. Attendance will continue to be taken and a revised schedule for classes will be sent to you via Populi. Please make sure that you have access to Zoom and Populi.

The College administrative offices will be open from March 16-25, 2020, with limited staff available. The college will be closed on Friday, March 20th, and Friday, March 27th, 2020.

At this time, per our existing academic calendar, we will have Spring Break from March 30th – April 3rd, 2020. We will be reopening the College for face-to-face classes on April 6, 2020 to start our new session. We will continue monitoring this situation and will keep you informed of any new developments regarding classes. Students will still be responsible for their tuition and book fees during this time.

We will be providing you with more information regarding our expectations for students during this time via Populi.

This can be a very stressful time for students, their families and community members. A list of resources regarding COVID-19 can be downloaded here, along with the full text of this letter. Students, family and staff can benefit from this information regarding emotional support.

We also just received a notice from COMCAST that effective Monday, March 16, 2020, Comcast is offering 2 months free to new Internet Essentials customers who qualify in response to recent and anticipated emergency measures associated with the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. In keeping with this community spirit, if you know of a student who may not have seen this message, please share it with them. Please check your email and Populi daily for updates.
