3/12 COVID-19 Message

We are continuing to stay in close contact with our city and state health experts about the increasing number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in our state. We wanted to provide updated information to you, our community.

There are now confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Colorado. We currently have no New America College students or staff who have confirmed cases of the virus.

Over the upcoming weeks, please know that we will maintain close contact with the Denver Department of Public Health, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, and the Centre for Disease Control (CDC).  We will be sure to share any information that is relative to the COVID-19 outbreak.

We have been in contact with state health officials regarding all information we have received regarding potential exposure to COVID-19 and have received assurances from them that we can continue with all of our school schedules, as well as planned school and district events. At this point, the main health risk is coming in close contact with someone who has the virus.

We are ensuring that all the College’s facilities are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. We strongly urge our community to take these essential health precautions:

  • Stay home when you are sick and keep your children at home when they are sick.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the    bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
